This is a great find if Clerkenwell is a good location for you. Room 503 on the top floor has a big terrace with comfortable seating for at least 4 or 5, and great views towards the city, and down to The Shard. Good French restaurant on site.
Really lovely hotel and extremely friendly staff. I only gave 3 star for service though as I went to the restaurant around 9pm Sunday. It wasn't particularly busy but they were obviously understaffed. I overheard a couple explaining they were leaving because they'd been sat there 20 minutes and had no service. I gave it a good few minutes more and then left to get food elsewhere myself.
Great stay at this hotel. It was unique and quiet. The location is amazing! They have a coffee station on every floor too! The only things to note are that when the bathroom is being used, the light comes into the main room. So if you have children or a partner that is delicate to light at night, this is something to be aware of! They also have a program to save resources for sustainability by indicating no cleaning. Although we indicated it at check in, be sure to hang the do not disturb sign as well; they still came to our room the first day. Highly recommend this hotel though!
I've stayed at this hotel several times on work trips. It's my favourite London hotel. The rooms are a decent size and have a proper desk to work on. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds. As much decent coffee as you want from a machine on each floor and a wonderful breakfast. I've also had a really good meal from room service.
Nice hotel with friendly staff. The only downside was that there was an old carpet in the room; not very allergenic friendly. The breakfast was a delight.
Pros: extras like sparkling or still water in room. Umbrellas. Windows that open to a quiet courtyard. Cons: the free coffee machines in the center of each floor sometimes work, mostly not. A pain to have to walk up/down to source coffee. Many asks to fix overy five day visit. Never really materialized
